Update [and small alteration] to the Loki [and now Bartleby] plot

Yep, that's the first part. 8D With ~~his babysitter~~ Bartleby now in play, it's going to make things a lot simpler. For those unfamiliar with Dogma's canon, please go check out Bartleby's ooc post for more details/signing up for a little omniscient sin identification?

The point of this? Well, on Loki's side at least, that whole stalking thing wont be needed. Assuming he bugs Bartleby enough, or the guy gets bored enough to let Loki know about the billion and one sinners in the City, it'll be more a case of point and go.

Also, because I really wasn't expecting as many replies as I got, I'm hoping to leave this as an ongoing thing. So you're free to keep adding to the list any time you want.

[character history / background]:

As one of the earliest angels, Loki was around during the very earliest days of earth. He and Bartleby became friends fairly early on, despite the huge difference between them. Where Loki was the Angel of Death, Bartleby was a Grigori; a watcher. It was Loki's job to kill humans in the name of God, and it was one he excelled in.

After finishing the slaughter of all the first born Egyptians (the tenth plague), he and Bartleby went out for "a post-slaughter drink". The two begin a discussion about whether murder in the name of God was okay, resulting in Bartleby talking a very drunk Loki into quitting his position and taking another role that didn't involve slaughter. Taking this all seriously, Loki presents himself before God, throws down his sword, and gives God the finger. To which God banishes both he and Bartleby to a fate worse than death; they're spending the entire span of human existence in Wisconsin. And once that was over, they'd be left outside the gates of Heaven for the rest.

Their salvation comes in the form of a newspaper article being sent to them from an unknown source. It informs the pair that a New Jersey church would be celebrating its centennial anniversary with a plenary indulgence; the pair would only have to walk through the doors of the church in order to have all their sins forgiven. If they died after doing this, they'd be allowed to return to heaven as their "slates" would be clean. However, what the pair don't know is that this would overrule the word of God, which, following the fundamental basis of existence that God cannot be wrong, would destroy existence itself.

Deciding to head to Red Bank, the pair board a bus headed there. However, during the journey, Loki discovers a commandment breaker, killing him on the spot. This puts an end to their journey as the driver and all the passengers flee. Continuing on their journey, the pair head to "Mooby headquarters" where Loki slaughters the entire board for a number of different reason, beginning with their worship of a golden calf for an idol. (One member is left alive as she has a pure soul, though Loki was close to killing her for not saying "bless you" when he sneezed. He's called off by Bartleby in his haste to leave).

Heading to another bus station, the pair discover that there are no tickets left, to which Loki suggests they fly the rest of the way. About to uncase their wings, Azrael arrives in time to stop them and gives them an update on the whole situation; both Heaven and Hell are looking for the two fallen angels, and Loki's killing sprees were drawing attention to them.

Deciding to take a train the rest of the way, Bartleby and Loki come across another group, made up of Bethany (the last Scion/relation of Jesus), Jay, and Silent Bob. The group all get along well; Loki hanging out with Jay and Silent Bob along the way. However, Bethany lets it slip as to what her job is (to stop Bartleby and Loki) and the consequences of their actions, moments before Rufus (the thirteenth apostle) arrives. The two angels are eventually thrown from the train.

Heading into a nearby parking garage, Bartleby and Loki have a discussion about what has just happened, resulting in their attitudes to the situation completely changing. Loki becomes more nervous and insecure about it all, whilst Bartleby becomes more aggressive and angry. Eventually, Bartleby forces Loki to continue, completely against Loki's wishes. They continue their journey, walking the rest of the way, and arriving in time for the ceremony.

On their arrival, Bartleby is quick to begin killing the humans there, forcing Loki to join in. At some point during the ensuing slaughter, Loki loses his wings and leaves Bartleby to carry on, instead going off to get drunk amidst the chaos. As Bethany and her group arrive, Loki begins talking to them, only to be interrupted by Bartleby's return. As the angel begins to tell the others his plan, Loki stumbles to his feet and heads back to the group, making an attempt to stop Bartleby. The end result is a tragic goodbye, before Bartleby stabs and kills Loki, dropping his body to the floor without a second look.

[This would be the part where fandom comes up with about a billion different versions of what happens next to Loki, if anything.]

[character abilities]:

Well, for one, he's immortal. With his wings still intact, he is unable to be killed. However, if they are removed, he is turned human, leaving him as vulnerable as anyone else. His wings aren't just for show either. They're fully functioning, though it's rare that he'd let them out. He's able to hide them completely from view and release them at will. He's also extremely strong; able to lift a fully grown person singlehandedly without any trouble.

Whilst working as the Angel of Death, Loki also had the ability to perform feats such as raining down sulphur, causing a great flood, and killing people en masse. It's assumed that since he no longer holds his position, he is unable to perform these skills anymore. In general, Loki usually weild a weapon of some form. In Heaven it was a flaming sword. On Earth, a Desert Eagle. He uses these weapons to "strike fear into the hearts of the wicked" and exact "Divine Justice". In other words, to kill Commandment breakers.

[character personality]:

Though bearing the same name as the Norse trickster, Loki has very little in common with him. Loki is not a god, he is a fallen angel; the Angel of Death, to be exact. Something important to point out is that Loki doesn't have a conscience regarding his actions. In particular, his natural violent tendencies, and often mean spirited nature. He does what he does because that was what he was made to do. He enjoys his work, even going as far as to talk Bartleby into letting him kill a group of board members in order to "repent". As well as this, Loki refuses to kill a person unless they have committed a sin, despite no longer holding his title.

In some ways, Loki is a very childish individual, often relying on Bartleby to tell him what to do. Of course, that doesn't mean he'll always follow along without question either. Bartleby has, on a number of occasions, referred to Loki as a "simple creature". He has something of a one track mind, acting on his thoughts at the moment as opposed to thinking ahead. His biggest drive throughout the film is to get back home, no matter what it takes. (Something that is tested when Bartleby mentioned killing the last Scion).

Despite having been cast out of heaven, Loki still holds true to all the beliefs instilled upon him during his time there. Those who sin are guilty, and deserve to be punished. Those who stay true to the Ten Commandments are innocents and are free to continue their daily lives. Due to the time he originally came from, he believes that sin is punishable by death, and has no qualms in making people pay for their 'crimes'.

Since discovering the outcome of their actions, Loki has become more insecure about it all, not wanting to go ahead. However, thanks to Bartleby, he hasn't been left with much of a choice. He'll still go ahead with it, albeit grudgingly. He's nervous, but he isn't about to stand up to his best friend. Not when the angel seems to have completely flipped on him.
